Constitution:"...to promote the development of tennis as a means of healthful recreation and physical fitness; to establish and maintain rules of play and high standards of amateurism and sportsmanship; to foster national and international amateur tennis tournaments and competitions; to encourage, sanction and conduct tennis tournaments and competitions under the best of conditions; and to encourage, through tennis, the development of health, character and responsible citizenship."

The USTA is the national governing body for the sport of tennis in the United States and is a not-for-profit organization with more than 675,000 members.  It owns and operates the US Open and selects the teams for the Davis Cup, Fed Cup and the Olympics and Paralympic Games.  It owns and operates the US Open, the largest annually attended sporting event in the world and, in 2004, launched the US Open Series which links 10 summer tournaments to the US Open.    It invests 100% of its proceeds to promote and develop the growth of tennis, from the grassroots to the professional levels. 

The USTA, which encompasses all 50 states, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, American Samoa and Guam, is composed of 17 geographical sections. Most sections are further divided into districts. Every section maintains its own staff to administer USTA programs, establishes its own tournament schedule and issues its own rankings.

National coordination and administration of the USTA’s efforts is effected by the full-time staff at the national headquarters in White Plains, N.Y., the USTA National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park, N.Y., and the USA Tennis High Performance headquarters in Key Biscayne, Fla.

The USTA/Eastern Section is one of 17 geographic sections of the United States Tennis Association - the governing body of tennis in the United States. The Eastern Section boasts over 42,000 members throughout all of New York, Northern New Jersey and Greenwich, Connecticut.

A not-for-profit community service organization, the Eastern Section's mission is to promote and develop the growth of tennis. The section also establishes and maintains rules of fair play, high standards of sportsmanship and represents in its jurisdiction, the programs and policies of the USTA.

The USTA Suffolk County District

The Suffolk County District Board was established in April 2010 to promote and develop the growth of tennis, focusing on the establishment of competitive, developmental, educational and recreational programs for everyone and to promote health, character, high standards of fair play, sportsmanship and social responsibility in the territory designated by the United States Tennis Association Eastern Section Long Island Region as Suffolk County District 7.
In 2012, The work of the Distrct Board transitioned to the Suffolk County Tennis and Education Foundation (sctef.org).

SCTEF continues to support the growth of tennis in Suffolk County, New York by sponsoring Suffolk County organizations, events, and intitiatives such as:
