Juniors 4 to 17

Starts July 17 - August 3, 2023
6 weekly sessions/ 2 days per week

Choice of 2 locations. Same daily scheule at each location.

Mondays/Wednesdays

Dates; July 17, 19, 24, 26, 31, August 2

Sessions:
Ages 4 to 6: 9:00 am to 9:30 am

Ages 7 to 10: 9:30 am to 10:30 am
Ages 11 to 17: 10:30 am to 11:30 am

*Schedule may be adjusted in order to maximize enrollment. Notification will be given before program starts.


Program Fees

Town of Islip Residents*

  • Ages 4 to 6 pp. ½ hr. group: $80 pp.
  • 1 hr. class for all other ages: $140 pp.

Non-Residents

  • Ages 4 to 6 pp. ½ hr. group: $90 pp.
  • 1 hr. class for All other ages: $160 pp.

Prices are per player for the full program weeks. Proof of residency required by Town Of Islip.

Discover Tennis Program- Summer

Play-Based instruction for grades K thru 12 (ages 4 thru 17) Beginners and Advanced Beginners.

Program designed to get kids to learn how to play tennis using learning tennis processions, and help them learn to play better using the Play-Based Approach and Tennis To Scale courts and equipment.

  • Grades k thru 4:
    Kids learn tennis fast using 10 and Under Tennis format and progressions.

    • Racquet and Rally skills.

    • 10 and Under Tennis balls and court sizes.

    • Game based fun activities.

  • Grades 5 thru 8:
    • Tennis learning progressions to develop racquet and rally skills.

    • Orange and Green tennis balls on full size courts.

    • Racquet skill game based fun activities.

    • Singles and doubles strategies and match play.

  • Grades 9 thru 12:
    • Tennis learning progressions to develop racquet and rally skills.

    • Green and yellow tennis balls on full size courts.

    • Movement and stroke techniques.

    • Game based fun activities.

    • Singles and doubles strategies and match play.

Program designed by USTA National 10+Under Tennis Specialist, High Performance Coach and Specialist in Competitive Player Development.

  • Play-Based instruction by experienced staff supervised by Certified tennis professional.

Equipment is provided.  Players are encouraged to bring their own tennis racquets.

Locations: Choice of 2 locations.
Please note: Session times and dates are the same for both locations.

Players will need to provide:

    • Clothing:
      • Shirts, shorts, sneakers (no sandals or flip flops)
    • Personal:
      • Water, sunscreen and anything personally required.
      • Tennis bag, drawstring or regular backpack, with full name clearly written for easy identification.

* Parents may purchase junior and adult tennis racquets online and receive it on the first day of the program. 

  • Age specific tennis racquet*.

    • Red (7-8yo): 21” to 23”

    • Orange: (9-10yo): 25”

    • Green, Yellow: 27” (full size)

Rain Cancellation and Make-ups:
Rain cancellations made up on Fridays, or by adding extra sessions. Announced by email, web site, SCJTL program line.
